Download data on Human Development. The data was collected by the World Bank, we added data about major religions, the geographical coordinates and continent.

  1. Use Select Columns to set the Continent as a target.
  2. Create a classification tree that tries to predict the continent of a country from the data. Play with the settings of the tree widget to get a tree of a reasonable size.
  3. Interpret the tree. What is typical for each continent? Does it make sense? (=Does it match our stereotypes? :)
  4. Now try the same with religions: can you guess the majority religion from other data?
  5. Based on the tree I've got, it seems that being a muslim increases your risk of dying of tuberculosis. Is it because of something in islam religion? Or is there perhaps another explanation?
